DA43 — Dishwasher Payment Dispute and Fraudulent Charges

In March 2024, the owner approved the installation of a new dishwasher. Despite this written approval, delays and false assurances followed for over two years. Ultimately, I purchased the appliance myself to restore habitability.

Actual Cost Paid: $648
Unlawful Demand: $350 cash, outside of lease and without documentation
Total Burden: $998 for a $300-quality dishwasher (by market value)

Despite owner acknowledgment of responsibility, and even text evidence agreeing to replace the dishwasher, I was forced to pay out of pocket and then extorted for a second payment in cash — unrelated to the original contract terms. This constitutes unjust enrichment, coercion, and a breach of warranty of habitability.
